Pokémon Sword and Shield Focuses on Gen 1 Gigantamax Forms in New Trailer

The Pokémon Company International launched a new trailer for their upcoming RPG adventure Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, coming to Nintendo Switch on November 15.

The publisher seems to be holding off on new Pokémon for the time being by turning its focus to Generation 1 creatures and showing off their Gigantamax forms. In this form, Pokémon takes on new powers, but it can only be used once in battles.

The trailer reveals:

Gigantamax Pikachu

Gigantamax Charizard

  • Type: Fire/Flying

Gigantamax Eevee

  • Ability: Run Away / Adaptability

Gigantamax Meowth

  • Type: Normal

  • Ability: Pickup/Technician

Gigantamax Butterfree

  • Height: 55’9″+
  • Weight: ???
  • Ability: Compound Eyes

Additionally, trainers who have save data from Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! will receive a special version of Gigantamax Picachu and Eevee to use in battle.

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield take place in a new region known as the Galar region, which is filled with the countryside, city, and snow-covered environments. Players will also be able to choose from new starter Pokémon Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble as they work towards becoming a Pokemon Champion.
