Bandai Namco Partners with Charity for 11-11 Memories Retold DLC

Most people would sigh and shake their heads when they hear the words ‘DLC planned before the games’ release’, however, this particular instance is a very strong exception to that. Partnering themselves with War Child UK, a charity that supports young people and children who have been affected by war, Bandai Namco has announced a charity DLC for their upcoming title 11-11 Memories Retold.

11-11 Memories Retold is a fictional narrative adventure produced by Bandai Namco, DigixArt and Aardman Studios. Set in World War One, the game tells the stories of two soldiers on the western front, a Canadian photographer who traveled far home to join the western front, and a German technician, who joined to try and find his missing son. Both wish to preserve their humanity and return to their loved ones, alive, but the question remains as to whether or not they know the horrors that await them.

The newly announced War Child DLC on the other hand, stars two children, Jack and Eve, telling their stories through a series of in-game collectibles such as letters, photographs, and drawings that can be found throughout the narrative. These collectibles and the story they tell is directly inspired by the experiences of the children supported by War Child, and all proceeds will be donated to the charity. You can find a link to the charity here.

In case you missed them, Bandai Namco Europe has been uploading a production Vlog for the game. The full playlist can be found here and the latest episode (at the time of writing) can be seen below.

11-11 Memories Retold will be available for Windows via Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on the 9th of November. The War Child DLC will be available upon launch.

Author’s Take: Whilst by no means on the top of my to-get list, the announcement of this DLC has certainly piqued my interest. It feels extremely meaningful for a production to take this course of action and I wish the companies involved the best of sales. Also, Elijah Wood is involved. He’s a stellar performer. That’s cool too.
