UPDATE: Master Detective Archives: Rain Code Prequel Digital Novel Announced for Physical Editions

Spike Chunsoft has announced that initial prints of their upcoming mystery adventure, Master Detective Archives: Rain Code, will contain a voucher code for a bonus digital novel. The Standard Edition and Mysteriful Limited Edition packages will both contain this add-on.

The novel is overseen by the main scenario writer Kazutaka Kodaka and written by Yoichiro Koizumi. No details regarding the contents of the story were shared other than it being a prequel to the game.

UPDATE 3/23/2023: Spike Chunsoft has fully revealed this digital novel supervised by Kazutaka Kodaka, focusing on “Yakou Furio, head of the Nocturnal Detective Agency.” Yoichiro Koizumi has written this story.

Master Detective Archives: Rain Code has players control an amnesiac detective who is followed by a Shinigami and solve cases by examining crime scenes and evidence. The Shinigami will create a realm connecting the crime scene to the truth. Mystery Phantoms will try to impede your progress, and defeating them by utilizing the truth is the only way to go.

The gameplay comprises exploration throughout the Kanai Ward, which is entirely 3D. Players will have to examine several crime scenes and other locations alongside interviewing involved parties. Hidden clues are emphasized as being hidden via specific camera angles.
