Digimon Survive Receives New Trailer; No Release Date

During today’s Digimon Con, Bandai Namco released a new trailer for the highly anticipated Digimon Survive, highlighting the primary cast and several showcases of gameplay footage. Following this trailer which lacked a release date, a Q&A with Chief Producer Kazumasa Habu confirmed that development has been going smoothly. Several technical and prior developmental issues halted progress for a while, but that seems to be behind them now. As a result, news regarding a release date will be arriving in the near future, though no specific time was provided.

Further, the Q&A session has confirmed that the title will comprise roughly 70% text adventure sequences, while 30% will be dedicated to combat. Completing all routes will take approximately 80-100 hours, and 113 monsters will be useable.

Many gameplay details were shared. 4 difficultly levels will be selectable, viewable below:

• Very Easy
• Easy
• Normal
• Hard

There will be no multiplayer or communication battle implementation. Additionally, voice acting will only be presented in specific events, meaning the game will not be fully voiced.

While not related to Digimon Survive specifically, it was also revealed that there are currently no plans for a sequel to Cyber Sleuth or Hacker’s Memory, with its existence being dependent on fan desire. The new Digimon Story game currently in development will involve the 12 Olympians.

Digimon Survive is a strategy RPG with adventure/visual novel-esque aspects. It tells the story of a group of kids who end up in another world, having to survive along with their newly-met Digimon partners. Through player choice, the creatures will have different evolutions, and the story will branch out into different endings. Digimon Survive is releasing for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam at some point.
