Paper Mario: The Origami King Announced for Switch in Trailer With Release Date

Nintendo announced that they will continue the Paper Mario series with the release of Paper Mario: The Origami King, coming to Nintendo Switch on July 17.

In Paper Mario: The Origami King, the kingdom has been overtaken by an origami theme. Mario and newcomer to the series, Olivia, then team up with the like of Toad and even Bowser to unfold the situation and rid the mushroom kingdom of the Origami King.

The player is tasked with free Princess Peach from King Olly, through a comedic adventure. Players will get to use new abilities from Mario, including 1,000-Fold Arms, where he extends his arms to interact with the environment and solve puzzles. Battles feature a ring-based battle system that requires puzzle-solving skills and quick action to overcome the enemy.

The game will launch both digitally and physically in the west, with physical pre-orders opening soon.

The developer also released a first-look trailer, which introduces this new paper world. The trailer also gives players a look at the unique origami themed mushroom kingdom as Mario navigates the land in paper form.
