Bandai Namco Apologizes for Tales of Symphonia Remastered Switch Issues; Investigating Fixes

Bandai Namco recently apologized to fans about the poor quality of the Nintendo Switch version of Tales of Symphonia Remastered on Twitter. Additionally, the company stated that they’ll keep everyone updated on fixes to the game via the official Tales of Twitter account. Unfortunately, specifics regarding the errors fans can expect to be remedied were not provided, as the tweet thread only says there is a “problem with the gameplay.”

While this news is certainly welcome, the game really should not have been released in this state at all. This version being the worst iteration of Tales of Symphonia does not inspire much confidence for future revival projects. Further, the lack of acknowledgment for the remaster’s PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions which also suffer from issues like unnecessarily lengthy world map loading times, is concerning. Regardless, we’ll keep you all updated on any patches made to Tales of Symphonia Remastered.

The entire tweet thread has been translated below via our team’s Ryuji:

“Thank you for playing the Nintendo Switch version of Tales of Symphonia Remastered. We have currently confirmed a problem with the gameplay, and are currently investigating a fix.

We will keep everyone updated through this official account. Once again, we deeply apologize for the inconvenience.

Check out our review of Tales of Symphonia Remastered on Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately, it is severely lacking in vital technical areas.

Tales of Symphonia was initially released for the Gamecube worldwide before receiving a Japanese-exclusive PlayStation 2 version that added more content. That same version would launch worldwide for PlayStation 3 and then eventually PC via Steam. This upcoming remaster is using the latest versions as the basis, though several new features are arriving, such as skippable anime events and improved maritime navigation.

Tales of Symphonia Remastered is now available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.

In case you missed it, over 2,000 Tales of songs are making their way to streaming services.

We recently discussed the number of Tales of games that have never been localized and those that have never been ported, making most of the franchise notably inaccessible to contemporary audiences.

“Tales of Arise Beyond the Dawn” was trademarked in Europe.
