Tekken 8 Revealed for PlayStation 5

During today’s State of Play, Bandai Namco revealed a cinematic trailer for the highly anticipated Tekken 8. This title was initially teased last month. The title is confirmed for PlayStation 5 so far.

PlayStation Blog confirms that the footage seen in the trailer is from the title’s story mode, and everything is in-engine, running at 60 FPS. “Just as the ending dialogue of Tekken 7 mentioned, this new entry will focus on the father and son showdown between Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama.”

Katsuhiro Harada, Chief Producer, Bandai Namco Studios Inc, shared the following statement regarding this announcement:

“We are very excited to show the next generation of TEKKEN. The team at Bandai Namco Studios has been hard at work to bring groundbreaking new features to TEKKEN 8, pushing the feeling of power in battles continuously further by harnessing the power of the latest generation of consoles. We can’t wait to show you more in the months to come.”

Yoshi Niki, CEO of Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc, shared the following statement regarding this announcement:

“Building on TEKKEN’s 25-year history as an innovator in the fighting game genre, TEKKEN 8 marks the next major chapter in this legendary franchise. TEKKEN 8 is a leap forward for the series, built from the ground up for next-gen platforms to give new and returning fans the most engaging experience ever set in the TEKKEN universe.”

Tekken 7 was released in 2015 and has seen regular updates in balances and new characters over the years. The series features an extensive roster of fighters, with players utilizing 3D stages to take down opponents. Fighting in Tekken is known for its unique style of hard-hitting over-the-top characters while featuring refined combat systems.

Tekken 7 Definitive Edition comes with the entire game, the bonus character, Eliza, and all-season pass DLCs from 1-4, making this the one edition to rule them all.
