Risk of Rain 2 Exits Early Access With Official Release Date

Gearbox Publishing and Hopoo Games announced that Risk of Rain 2 will exit Early Access on August 11 for an official launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC-via Steam.

Currently. the game is available for a discounted price of $19.99 on Steam but will raise to $24.99 at launch. Also at launch, players will find a new update which includes story cutscenes, a new Survivor, Final Stage, Final boss, and Server Browser.

The new Survivor is The Captain, who controls the battlefield with utility and damage. The character has a shotgun-rifle combo and can request probes and beacons from orbit to provide armor or a healing zone.

Additionally, the final stage will be placed on the moon where players will face off against the final boss.

Risk of Rain 2 is a third-person shooter roguelike where players will find themselves in procedurally generated levels and must find a gate to lead to a new floor. Through each floor, players will face many enemies and bosses that net them gold. There is also the possibility of finding rare weapons and abilities that make the levels a little easier. However, the most compelling part of the game is its cooperative gameplay where players can jump into the game with up to four other players.
