About Me
Yorkshire born, I moved down to Peterborough in 1980 after graduating to join a firm of Structural Engineers. A year later I married Linda and we moved to Stilton in 1983 where we have stayed ever since, raising three children who in turn have given us the joy of five grandchildren.

I retired in 2019, after nearly 40 years in construction running large construction projects, with the aim of doing more of what I enjoy; time with family, walking, fishing, sport, DIY, gardening, travelling abroad, good food and wine and keeping fit – you can see why I needed to retire!

With time I have become increasingly involved with the Stilton Community, initially
through the Twinning Association, then chairing the Stilton Amenities Steering Group
which designed, secured funding and built the Stilton Pavilion.

More recently I have joined Stilton Parish Council (SPC). My motivation for joining SPC was to help bring processes up to date, help establish a team to manage the village assets and establish an open and interactive relationship with people of the village.

About Me

I have lived locally all my life. Born and grew up in Washingley and moved to Stilton at 19. Got married and had a brief flirtation with Yaxley before returning to Stilton where I have been ever since.

Been married to Colin for 39 years and we have a 24 year old daughter. For 35 years we have run Colbrook Specialists, moving the business to Stilton in the early nineties.

I have been the Treasurer of the Gardening Club, a member of the Memorial Hall Committee, and a Rainbow Guider known as Otter. Previously, a Councillor for 17 years.

I enjoy reading, especially a good murder, relaxing in my garden and researching my Family Tree. I own a 1937 Ford Convertible with a V8 engine, which is great fun, and am Chair of a National Car Club (NSRA) which keeps me busy too.

Stilton is a wonderful place to live, and I want it to stay a wonderful place to live.

About:

Born “south of the river” and moved to the area in 1975.

Lived in Stilton since 1986 and married to Dee with 3 (mostly) grown-up children between us and 4 grandchildren.

On the Parish Council since 2018 (more bureaucracy and diplomacy challenges) but it feels like forever.

Likes: gardening – even at the Pavilion!  walking – but not to the Pavilion!  do-it-yourself – sometimes at the Pavilion!

About Me

A South London girl for 26 years (never had an inside loo until I was 11), married, moved to North Yorkshire, then Peterborough, where in 1996 my son was born. At 31, breakup, refocus, Access Course (1yr) + Loughborough (3yrs) = BSc Business & Law.

Single parent for 17 years, now happily married to Rick.  Married in my beloved Wales (Craig-y-Nos) after a blind date at The Bell (2011), moving to Stilton (2016). I have two step-sons and work full time as a Partnership Manager.

I don’t enjoy bad smells or cooking but love Spring, 1950’s glamour, gardening, bees, holidays, socialising, history and lazy summer evenings. Music; eclectic but easy Jazz and vibrant Rock.

I fall more in love with Stilton every year with its friendly community, welcoming establishments and interesting history

I joined SPC as I am passionate about getting communication right for our village to ensure it stays a fabulous place for us and future generations.

About Me

Local lad, born in Offord, unexpectedly, two months early and weighing 2lbs. Eldest of three boys. Lived in Graveley then Fenstanton before moving to Stilton in 1975 when I married Jackie and we set up our first home in Worthington Close.

Stilton was chosen as we could afford to buy a house as opposed to other locations such as Fenstanton, where we both lived. The choice turned out to be a great move as the village and the people made it a special place to live and raise a family.

We had three children Jason in 77, Alison in 79 and Adam in 81, all attending the local schools and joining groups that were available to them at the time.

I am now a retired Civil Servant having done forty seven and a half years service all of which were on UK and US military bases.

I joined the Parish Council to give something back to the village and thrive to make it a place where all that live here can enjoy and feel proud of. I would encourage others to do the same.

Julianne Lawrence

About Me

From Yorkshire, 2 children, 2 dogs, one partner (although if Ryan Reynolds asked nicely, I might be able to make room for him at the inn too!)

Travelled far and wide before settling in Folksworth a couple of years ago.  Staying put as we’re renovating an old house and by the time that’s finished (sometimes feels like it’s 1 step forward, 2 steps back), I’m told that we’re off travelling around the world on a boat … that we will be sailing ourselves … even though I get terrible seasickness.  I like adventures though and I like challenges so it’ll be all aboard for me, the dogs, kids, the Captain (and maybe even Ryan!)

For now, I’m really enjoying living here, walking the hounds, eating the world-class puddings at The Bell, biking multiple routes off Bullock Road and learning more than I ever thought possible alongside the lovely group of folk that make up Stilton Parish Council.

Julie Gillies

Pavilion Administrator

About Me

Born and bred in Norwich, I moved to Stilton in 2005.  Happily married for 33 years and have one son.

Have worked all my employable years as an administrator mostly in Local Government, am a former Beaver Leader (known as Rainbow), Event Organiser, Committee Secretary, Clerk to Governing Bodies, NVQ Assessor and was a parent representative on two Sure Start Schemes (known later as Children’s Centres).

I left school with mediocre qualifications (believe it or not, I was quite shy then and barely said a word to anyone).  Returned to studying again in 2008 and continued until 2013 whilst working full-time, mothering and Scouting, enjoyed every minute and sharing learning with the people I met along the journey.

I’m a positive and happy person, never enjoyed cooking (would rather clean), enjoy travelling, fine cuisine, gardening but mostly socialising and getting together with family and friends.

As Pavilion Administrator, I’m hoping the building will be the flagship ‘go to’ building in Stilton and the wider community for recreation and private functions.
