Visual Novel ‘Sharin no Kuni’ Shows English Gameplay in New Video With Plans for a March 2021 Release

The Re:Sharin no Kuni Project Team has updated those awaiting the release of Sharin no Kuni in the west with an update on the PC release, which is now being developed alongside the Vita version. The recent update for the project ensured fans that the game is currently going through the debug phase where they are ironing out graphics-related issues. Furthermore, the team is looking for instances of untranslated strings of text in the UI.

The publisher revealed this out for the upcoming months:

  • December 2020 – January 2021: Final debug
  • January 2021: Sharing of the details on the distribution of the digital version
  • February 2021: Manufacture completion, sharing of the shipping schedule
  • March 2021: Shipping of the physical version and distribution of the digital version

Additionally, the team shared a new video showing the game running in English for a few scenes. It isn’t a long video, but at least it’s progress in the game’s incredibly long development.

The Kickstarter campaign for Sharin no Kuni: The Girl Among the Sunflowers launched in 2016 and was somewhat successful after securing a physical Vita release. However, that wouldn’t end up being the case post-launch as the team ran into development and localization issues throughout the localization project. The game is also in development for PC.

Developed by Akabeisoft2 Sharin no Kuni: The Girl Among the Sunflowers was initially released in 2005 on PC until it received an updated console port in 2010. The game is set in a farming town where players assume the role of Kenichi Morita, who is training to become a member of Special High-Class Individuals (SHCI), an elite group of people. These members are given Obligations, which they must follow or face punishment.

For Kenichi’s final test, he is sent to his childhood home to rehabilitate three students who possess obligations and prepare them to re-enter society.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the development and localization of Sharin no Kuni: The Girl Among the Sunflowers.
