Dragon Quest Treasures Main Story Takes 30 Hours, Full Completion is Around 100 Hours; Monsters Series Not Abandoned

In the latest issue of Famitsu, the outlet interviewed Dragon Quest Treasures producer Taichi Inuzuka, revealing intriguing tidbits worth chewing on.

Firstly, Inuzuka stated that even with Dragon Quest Treasures releasing soon and being clearly inspired by the Monsters’ series of spinoffs, that does not mean the Monsters series itself will “disappear.” This statement was not elaborated upon, but it appears that fans of that specific subset of titles should have some faith about them being potentially revived.

Further, the producer stated that following the release of the Japanese-exclusive Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3, he wanted to do something new with the series, eventually leading to the development of Treasures. Therefore, and while this is not explicitly stated, it can be implied that the conceptualization of Treasures occurred during the timeframe of Joker 3’s release.

Lastly, the playtime of Dragon Quest Treasures was discussed, with its main story stated to take roughly 30 hours. Although, those seeking to seek full 100% completion should expect to spend around 100 hours.

Dragon Quest Treasures follows Erik and Mia, both prominent characters from Dragon Quest XI, with Erik even having been a party member. However, in this title, these siblings are taken away from the Viking ship they normally reside in to a new world called Draconia, housing a myriad of treasures, including the Seven Dragonstones. Conveniently, Erik and Mia can communicate with the monsters here, allowing for integral cooperation regarding treasure hunting.
