SPEC AND PRODUCT LIST BELOW WRITTEN

CES is here in full force. Whilst there will be many brands showcasing a variety of fun new products, today, we focus on one brand specifically, and that is HP, along with its counterparts. You might be reading this after the event, but this event for HP, HyperX Omen, and Poly provided a wealth of insight into each brand’s new line of products. This event was packed from cute mic holders to new hardware on all spectrums.

Starting with HP, the star of the show if you are mature enough to give them credit here, features a range of products from new notebooks, Chromebooks, all-in-ones, Ai, and more. The introduction is going to start with the latest HP Dragonfly Pro series. 

Interestingly enough, I find HP is breaking away from advertising specs in your face but instead trying to take a step back and target clients who aren’t tech-savvy. During their presentation of this laptop, and the Dragonfly Chromebook, in which we will break down the differences between the two, HP is pushing marketing towards certain lifestyles and workflows rather than telling you what processor it has. Then again, they won’t hide the specs if you just search for them or keep reading this article. 

The Dragonfly Pro offers up to 32GB of memory and 1TB of storage. These configurations are loaded with a Ryzen7 7736u laptop processor with integrated Radeon 19 graphics. Regarding the display, we only see a 14”, 1920x1080p resolution, but the Dragonfly Pro boasts a bright screen at 400 nits. Also, the Dragonfly Pro speaks on behalf of a haptic touchpad and touchscreen, which is quite a nice touch. There are other talking points for this laptop, but we aren’t going to list them here. (See spec list below). 

The selling point HP focused on the most, which is actually quite unique, is the right-side hotkeys featuring the more important instant support button. HP wants its customers to be in good hands providing expert service in the Dragonfly Pro at the click of a button, along with other right-side hotkeys. HP believes this is their future of marketing to their customers, with less spec talk and more about the human behind the keys, which are very comfy, by the way. Not everyone is savvy with bugs, navigating menus or settings, so to push such a button to direct a client to expert 24-hour service included could be a dealbreaker for some looking to spend some money on a new notebook. You can also add accidental protection via a monthly subscription.

What makes the Dragonfly Pro unique is the AI processing built into the machine, otherwise known as Adaptive Platform Management Framework supported via AMD. This feature will allow the laptop to maximize battery life and overall PC life via Ebb and Flow performance changes in real-time. So quiet down, or cool down, the laptop knows when to deliver performance and to where in order to render those CAD drawings you need to produce. The Dragonfly Pro is also built with a custom vapor chamber, motherboard, fan, and more to accommodate the notebook’s build.  

The HP Dragonfly Chromebook, other than being a Chromebook and not being able to do what Windows PCs can do, offers a slightly different build than its counterpart, the Dragonfly Pro. The Chromebook removes the instant support and other right-side hotkeys, as that package is not included with this Chromebook. Although we only see 16GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a 12th gen I5, 1235U, the Chromebook slaps with a bright 2560×1600 display at 14”, which is supposedly the brightest touchscreen display in a Chromebook at 1200 nits.

They say it’s 4k, but it’s really just QHD at 14”, so be careful of the wordplay. Lastly, the Dragonfly Chromebook has another first, dropping the world’s first RGB keyboard on a non-gaming Chromebook. This Chromebook has so much going for it, but I don’t know anyone buying a Chromebook looking for these types of specs or price points. It just doesn’t make much sense to me, but the laptop was nice. So there you have it. The Chromebook is suitable for a heavy internet user who isn’t tech-savvy, and the Dragonfly Pro is for everyone who isn’t tech-savvy. You take your pick, but I would go with the Dragonfly Pro. 

P.S. – A lot of HP products follow a stance of eco-friendly build materials, such as using almost 100% recycled materials. The Dragonfly Chromebook itself is made of 70% recycled metals and 20% recycled plastics. This is a bold stance from HP, and it’s welcomed.

There were more products from HP, but please see the spec list or featured video below. For now, let’s move on to the notable announcements and products of HyperX. First, let’s dive into the world of assorted and designed keycaps, keyboards, mic holders, and more. HyperX is striking a customer that likes to customize, accessorize, and show off their artsy side as we see mushroom HyperX mic holders, Cozy keycaps such as cakes and characters, and even medieval dragon”esque” designs.

Whether you like cute or aggressive trolls hiding under a bridge, HyperX has your desk vibe covered. They plan on adding to these collections, as well as developing new collections. Still, HyperX would primarily like to see how certain products perform in sales before jumping headfirst into trying to sell merch that doesn’t capture a demographic.

I’d like to mention there is a Cozy Cat Coco limited edition keycap out there somewhere. Hunt it down if you’d like nerds. They claim to release these limited edition collectible keys monthly, so you will have to be on the lookout. 

Along with these fun designs to decorate your stream with, you can also pick up a HyperX Haste 2 Mouse and headset to match the setting, fully engulfing yourself into the world of “customizables” from HyperX. I must say, it was such a fun experience to see what designs they made, whether I was interested in purchasing the products or not, and for that, we give kudos.

Lastly, HyperX shows off their new budget Clutch Gladiate controller for Xbox. For a low price, this controller has vibration, and 2-step adjustable triggers, hence the clutch name. For someone looking for a little extra fun out of a controller, especially if they don’t have $70, this piece of hardware gets the juices flowing.

Moving on to Omen, we see a variety of notable announcements and follow-ups from the company, especially in the computing section. Opening up the conversation, new pre-builds or DIY cases in the 25L, 40L, and 45L sizes hit the market. Besides being new, you can purchase the 45L case with a patented cryo chamber located at the top of the case. It’s not just on the top, though, as the chamber where you find your liquid cooler radiator is wholly separated from the interior of the computer case.

Yes, this means less heat in your machine and a more efficient build that looks different in most cases. It does, however, seem to add a lot of height, so keep that in mind. All cases have options to purchase the case by itself or pre-builds with varying parts. Choose to buy a pre-build, and customize after, such as adding your own extra m.2 drive, or buy a raw case ready to be customized and built by you, the buyer. These cases also have brackets to support that hefty 4000 series GPU, so you don’t break or bend your PCI-E port. 

Omen also presents refreshes in these desktops mentioned and in their notebooks with ddr5 RAM, 4000 series graphics cards, and 13th gen processors. Omen seems to keep up on their hardware selection, and we like to see that. We also like to see their refresh of their existing Omen 16” and 17” gaming notebooks swooping in with a QHD 240hz display. Besides the new parts and dope screen, the difference between the 16: and the 17” is the optical keys for a more mechanical feel, so choose wisely, but I would send it and get the 17”. Bigger screen better? Amiright?  

Next, with Omen, we have a collaboration with Nvidia’s cloud gaming service, Geforce Now. When you open up your Omen Gaming Hub software and find the My Games menu, not only will you see all of your downloaded games, regardless of publisher, but now you will see all of your available Geforce Now streamable games. This is mainly important due to the Optimizer algorithm built into Omen Gaming Hub, which will monitor your PC in many areas to deliver the maximum possible performance to your game of choice.

You can now run Optimizer with Geforce Now via cloud gaming anywhere, which is quite the news if you ask me. For a customer who likes to game on the go or anywhere in their home, the Optimizer app integration with cloud gaming can reduce stutter, lag, or frame drop while streaming your favorite game. I think we will test it ourselves here at NoisyPixel.net for an Optimizer review, but for now, we’ll stick to just writing about the news. 

Lastly, if you didn’t know already, Omen Gaming Hub allows you to sync select 3rd party lights such as Twinkly, Philips Hue, Logitech, and Razer to your gaming experience. The lights in your room can react to your games for no extra cost through the Omen Gaming Hub, which is something I am still not over myself. If you cover your room correctly with lights, you can really immerse yourself, as the light accuracy to what you are actually playing is quite accurate. traveling through a ring of fire? Well, now you are in real life through the stimulation of your RGB strips and monitor backlighting. Take a look at the large twinkly square featured in the video below.   

Now, we find ourselves at the lesser fun of the bunch, the Poly products. The only notable product to speak about is the Voyager Free 60 series wireless earbuds. First, here are a few talking points to discuss, so let’s start with the high-quality input mic with three points of input to pinpoint the best capture of your voice. This will allow the ANC and built-in sidetone algorithm to be more precise.

The buds include three different earpiece sizes to fit all buyers’ ears because we all hate a bud that keeps falling out. It defeats the purpose of being true-wireless. The most relaxed inclusion to this pair of buds is the smart charging case with a top-sided display. The display features a visual battery life indicator and toggle switches between different inputs and inflight content. Very different from what’s out there, at least from the top of my head. 

That about sums up the strongest features of the Preview CES 2023 event from HP, HyperX, Omen, and Poly.
