Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising Introduces New Playable Character Nier; PlayStation Beta This Month

Cygames and Arc System Works have shared new gameplay details for their upcoming fighter Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising. Firstly, the third new playable character Nier was revealed.

Her profile is quoted below, alongside an accompanying image of official artwork:

“Nier summons the primal beast Death to fight alongside her. Input Death’s skills in succession and watch as they activate in order. But be careful, as this costs Love’s Redemption, a resource that causes Death to become temporarily inactive once exhausted.”

Additionally, the Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising beta will go live on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 at the end of July, with sign-ups for the pre-access beta beginning on July 6, 2023.

Further, the team will hold a “closed pre-access beta followed by an open beta for anyone to play.”

Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising features the original 24-character Versus cast alongside several new ones. A newly implemented mechanic will be Ultimate Skills, which are more powerful iterations of Versus’ Plus Skills, enabling new combo extension opportunities and ways to punish opponents. Additionally, a new Story mode will be available in a more convenient fashion, abolishing item collection, growth elements, and some quest battles. It will be an abridged version of Versus’ 50 RPG Mode chapters, too.

This release will also feature enhanced graphics, an improved online lobby with a vaster environment, and Grand Bruise Legends! Mode, comprising minigames such as obstacle course Rising Royale and Gold Brick Hoarder.
