Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince Introduces Cast, Region of Nadiria, 3 Launch DLC Sets & More

Square Enix has revealed a plethora of new character and gameplay information for their upcoming turn-based RPG, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince. Firstly, many members of the main cast were introduced.

The demihuman protagonist Psaro was cursed by the ruler of the monster realm of Nadiria, also known as his father, making the youth incapable of harming any being with monster blood coursing through their veins.

To defy his fate, Psaro becomes a monster wrangler, amassing a sizeable monster following during his quest for vengeance. Additionally, he’ll make new allies, including the elf Rose and the enigmatic Toilen Trubble.

Rose is resolute yet kind-hearted and gentle. Her elven powers are vital to traversing Nadiria. Toilen, on the other hand, is a magic researcher who loves discounts and discovering rare items. He joins Psaro and Rose to find magical ingredients not native to the human world. Another character is Fizzy, who is Psaro’s mentor regarding monster wrangling.

The following English voice actors were confirmed:

• Psaro – Gwilym Lee
• Rose – Emma Ballantine
• Toilen Trubble – Hyoie O’Grady
• Fizzy – Harriet Carmichael

Nadiria is divided into realms called Circles, each comprising lower, middle, and upper echelons. As players adventure across this land, time will pass, and the seasons will cycle, altering the monsters and areas. To get new monsters in the party, Psaro can synthesize over 500 types. Plus, players can battle each other online.

Lastly, three DLC sets: The Mole Hole, Coach Joe’s Dungeon Gym, and Treasure Trunks, will launch simultaneously with the full game. New gameplay rewards and outfits for Psaro will be provided here.

The DLC contents’ has been summated below:

The Mole Hole – Delve underground for a reunion with monster types you’ve befriended once before. You’ll also have the opportunity to scout monsters that are otherwise very tricky to synthesise. This DLC includes the ‘gothic vestment’ outfit.

Coach Joe’s Dungeon Gym – Explore these randomly generated dungeons and battle legions of powerful monsters. Each dungeon comes with unique requirements that require players to carefully assess and construct their party. Dispatch the boss that awaits in the final room to earn rare items that will aid you in raising ever-stronger allies. This DLC includes the ‘cake-maker’s clobber’ outfit.

Treasure Trunks – Every time you open these mysterious treasure chests, you’ll obtain an exciting reward. However, you’ll have to wait a little while before you can open the chest up again and obtain the next exciting reward on the list! Keep opening them, and you’re guaranteed to get your hands on some very enticing items, indeed! This DLC includes the ‘monstrous mail’ outfit.

Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince will launch for Nintendo Switch on December 1, 2023. Physical pre-orders are available, with digital pre-orders set to be available at a later date.
