Nintendo previously announced new support for Metroid Dread in the form of Dread and Rookie mode. To start, Dread Mode is a difficulty setting that punishes the player for any little mistake. In this mode, a single hit is enough to wipe Samus off the face of the earth. They are intended for those looking to add more challenge to the game and should not be attempted by the faint of heart.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Rookie Mode gives the player enhanced recovery, ensuring that mistakes are less costly. No matter what mode you play on, these added difficulty settings should allow players to tailor their experience to suit their needs. A Boss Rush mode was also added earlier this year.
