Star Wars Outlaws Will be a “Very Focused” Experience; Not 200-300 Hours

It has recently been a trend to make a game last as long as possible, whether through a story mode or the amount of side content that makes a game daunting for many players. So, it might come as a relief for some that in an interview with IGN. Julian Gerighty, Creative Director for Star Wars Outlaws, reveals that the team didn’t want to make a game over 2o0 hours long.

Julian said the following:

“Too big is a game that people don’t manage to play, enjoy, and finish. And our objective is to really get people into a very dense, rich adventure, open world adventure that they can rhythm the way that they want.

So it is absolutely not a 200 or 300 hour epic unfinishable RPG. This is a very focused action-adventure RPG that will take people on a ride and is very manageable.”

Instead, the team has decided to focus on story elements to make a ride manageable for all players. They, however, did dodge the question of how many areas fans can expect in Star Wars Outlaws.

Star Wars Outlaws is an original story set between Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. The events take place as the Galactic Empire gets closer to taking down the Rebel Alliance, and the criminal underworld thrives.

Players assume the role of Kay Vess, voiced by Humberly González, along with companions, Nix, played by Dee Bradley Baker (Star Wars: The Bad Batch), as they attempt one of the greatest heists the Outer Rim has ever seen. Seeking the means to start a new life, players will join Kay and Nix as they fight, steal, and outwit their way through the galaxy’s crime syndicates and join the galaxy’s most wanted.

During gameplay, players will take on contracts that lead them across the galaxy throughout several open-world environments. Several criminal syndicates exist within these locals, and players will need to navigate these relationships to push the narrative.

Star Wars Outlaws will release PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2024.
