Mortal Kombat 1 Announced for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch & PC; Trailer & Pre-Order Details

Warner Bros Games and NetherRealm Studios have announced a new entry in the Mortal Kombat franchise, Mortal Kombat 1, releasing for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on September 19, 2023. Rollback Netcode has been confirmed, and an internet connection is not required to simply play the game.

Further, “QLOC is developing the Steam and Epic Games Store versions of the game. Shiver Entertainment and Saber Interactive are developing the Nintendo Switch version of the game.”

The standard version is confirmed to cost $69.99, with a $109.99 Premium Edition, “including 1,250 Dragon Krystals (in-game currency), the Kombat Pack featuring  Johnny Cage character skin, early access to six new playable characters (available post-launch), and five new Kameo Fighters (available post-launch).”

Lastly, a PlayStation and Xbox-only Collector’s Edition for $249.99 was announced, “including Premium Edition content and early access, along with a 16.5-inch Liu Kang sculpture designed by COARSE, and an inspired Liu Kang in-game character skin, three exclusive art prints, a steel case, and 1,450 additional Dragon Krystals (2,700 total).”

Confirmed returning characters are Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Shang Tsung, and Johnny Cage.

Players can anticipate a reborn Mortal Kombat universe crafted by the Fire God Liu Kang, birthing new and refined gameplay modes, battle system, and Fatalities to keep the series fresh. Additionally, there will be an original story campaign and various Kameo fighting partners for assistance during combat.

Fans who pre-order the title will gain the playable Shang Tsung fighter and beta access beginning on September 14, 2023. Speaking of, pre-orders will become available on May 19, 2023, at 10 AM PT/ 1 PM ET.
