Mortal Kombat 1 Shows Off its Brutal Gameplay in New Trailer Highlights Cameo Fighters and Story Scenes

During Summer Game Fest 2023, Warner Bros Games and NetherRealm Studios released new gameplay for Mortal Kombat 1, coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on September 19, 2023.

The trailer highlights gameplay from the story campaign and follows some of the fights of Johnny Cage, Liu Kang, Scorpion, Raider, and Sub Zero, alongside others, and we get a chance to see where they all began this adventure. Further, we get a look at some of the story elements. You can also get a look at the cameo feature, where players can bring in a character to continue a combo. To use this feature, a cameo character is tied to a button press and is set on a gauge. The button, in combination with a directional button press, will summon the character. Some characters will be available as cameos and playable characters. However, a lot of characters are iterations of their old selves.

The game takes place after the ending of Mortal Kombat 11, where Liu Kang became a god and created a separate universe. This allows the team to reboot the series and change up some of the story elements.

The latest Mortal Kombat release is Mortal Kombat 11, which has sold over 12 million units worldwide. Moreover, the Mortal Kombat franchise has sold over 73 million units worldwide. Several films, theatrical series, and animated movies have aided in defining Mortal Kombat as an undeniable icon of gaming culture.
