Character Growth System: Release Line

Adol and Carja’s combat abilities can be individually strengthened by releasing the power of Mana in a special growth tree called the Release Line.

Here’s how it works: First, you’ll raise your level and acquire Mana Points. Then, you can use these to unlock specific skills for Adol and Carja. Furthermore, you can also set Mana Seeds into the slots and gain some neat bonuses.

Mana Seed Abilities

Four different Mana abilities can be activated by setting an item called a Mana Seed. The same type can also be combined so that players can customize their character to their liking. For example, maybe you can set multiple [Bravery] type seeds to create a character specializing in attack or set up one of each type to balance things out.

There are four types of Mana Seeds:

[Bravery]

Increases damage and knockdown value.

[Solidfy]

Activates effects such as reduced damage and increased recovery speed from abnormal conditions.

[Optimistic]

Activates effects such as increased dash speed and extended skill chain activation time.

[Darkness]

Special effects such as increased damage while poisoned, stunned, etc. or increased critical rate when HP is low, etc.

Lastly, some special Mana Seeds have the “Dreaming” attribute and can have the Bravery, Solidity, and Optimistic types simultaneously. Combining these Seeds with other Mana Seeds will amplify the effects of certain types.

Ys X Nordics will occur between Ys II and Memories of Celceta, making it the new third canonical entry in Adol Christin’s adventure logs. The gameplay has undergone a significant shakeup, with there only being two playable characters this time around.

Special maneuvers can be unlocked via story scenes and exploration, allowing for environmental interaction. Further, in solo mode, the character you’re not controlling performs actions judged by their own discretion. Adol will be controlling a ship for combat and island hopping, too.

Unused Ys Seven concepts are being utilized in this outing, too. Ys X Nordics will allow players considerable explorative freedom, enabling naval travel with a recruitable crew and ship combat.

Ys X Nordics will launch in Japan for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch on September 28, 2023.
