Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince Will Have One Save Slot Per Switch Account

Following the announcement of Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince, we talked to Square Enix about the game and learned more about its save functions. We were told that the title will only feature one save slot per user.

Additionally, while completely expected, everyone participating in battles online must own the game.

We were told the following:

“Players can use multiple accounts on 1 Switch, and each account on that Switch gets one save slot. To play against each other online, each player needs to have their own copy of the game.”

The save file news may be unfortunate to some, but at least we’re aware before the title’s launch later this year.

The demihuman protagonist Psaro was cursed by the ruler of the monster realm of Nadiria, also known as his father, making the youth incapable of harming any being with monster blood coursing through their veins.

To defy his fate, Psaro becomes a monster wrangler, amassing a sizeable monster following during his quest for vengeance. Additionally, he’ll make new allies, including the elf Rose and the enigmatic Toilen Trubble.

Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince will launch for Nintendo Switch on December 1, 2023. Physical pre-orders are available, with digital pre-orders set to be available at a later date.
