Subquest System: Fugil’s Messages

Sub-quests in Ys X are handled through this system, in which the player solves requests brought by Fugil, the raven. Their objectives and contents vary widely; some can be received at various locations as quests that include a sub-story. Of course, you will receive rewards for completing the requests. Each quest has a time limit to complete.

Special Combat: Recapture the Island!

As you sail through the Gulf of Obelia while advancing in your adventure, you’ll find many occupied islands scattered throughout the world, and you can approach such islands to trigger a special battle, where you’ll recapture that island from the occupant Griegers.

First, you must sail around the island and destroy the Barrier Pillars. The exact number of pillars will be displayed at the top left of your screen. Once you’ve destroyed them all, Carja and Adol will then leave their boat and proceed to land combat. Bonuses will be given to the two of them depending on the Ship Level.

At the end of the battle, you’ll be given a rank from C to S, and rewards will be given depending on which one you attain.

Ys X Nordics will occur between Ys II and Memories of Celceta, making it the new third canonical entry in Adol Christin’s adventure logs. The gameplay has undergone a significant shakeup, with there only being two playable characters this time around.

Special maneuvers can be unlocked via story scenes and exploration, allowing for environmental interaction. Further, in solo mode, the character you’re not controlling performs actions judged by their own discretion. Adol will be controlling a ship for combat and island hopping, too.

Unused Ys Seven concepts are being utilized in this outing, too. Ys X Nordics will allow players considerable explorative freedom, enabling naval travel with a recruitable crew and ship combat.

Ys X Nordics will launch in Japan for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch on September 28, 2023.

Ys X Nordics will launch in Traditional Chinese and Korean for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch on September 28, 2023.
